On the 15th of April the Boston marathon which is visited by thousands of people takes place like every year at the Patriots Day. In 2013 everything is different: Almost at the same time 2 bombs explode near the finish line and demands numerous injured persons and even dead people. Sergeant Tommy Saunders (Mark Wahlberg) tries to preserve a clear head and coordinates the first rescue operations, although his wife maybe is a victim of the detonation.
